Job Title: Operator – 1st ShiftJob DescriptionThe 1st Shift Operator plays a key role in a GMP, climate-controlled food production environment by operating and maintaining fermentation tanks and related production machinery. This position focuses on safe and efficient production, sanitation, minor quality inspection, and accurate documentation to ensure high-quality products and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain fermentation tanks and food production machinery, including packaging machinery, labelers, vats, dryers, and conveyor systems.
- Perform sanitation duties to maintain a clean and compliant production environment.
- Weigh and count product accurately to meet production and quality specifications.
- Accurately check in and check out materials to maintain inventory control and traceability.
- Complete disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly (DCRs) of equipment safely and efficiently.
- Print labels accurately to ensure proper product identification and compliance.
- Conduct minor quality inspections of product to verify conformance to standards.
- Record production data and maintain clear, accurate documentation of manufacturing activities.
- Follow GMP requirements and safety procedures at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Apply LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures when required to ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
Essential Skills- At least 1 year of experience operating production machinery in a GMP environment.
- At least 1 year of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
- At least 1 year of experience performing sanitation duties in a production or food manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with a focus on food production and fermentation.
- Ability to perform minor mechanical tasks related to operating and maintaining production equipment.
- Ability to conduct basic quality inspections and recognize nonconforming product.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate weighing, counting, label printing, and material handling.
- Ability to record production data clearly and accurately.
- Commitment to following GMP standards and safety protocols consistently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with sterilization processes in a production or food manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with documentation review in a regulated manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working with conveyor systems, dryers, vats, and other food production equipment.
- Ability to work effectively on a set schedule and adapt to occasional voluntary overtime.
- Strong organizational skills to manage materials, documentation, and equipment disassembly/cleaning/reassembly.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a GMP, climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on food production and fermentation. The position follows a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the potential for approximately 5 hours of voluntary overtime when available. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to GMP codes and safety standards, including wearing safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, pants without holes, hair nets, and beard nets as applicable. Work involves operating and maintaining production machinery such as fermentation tanks, packaging equipment, labelers, vats, dryers, and conveyor systems, while consistently following sanitation, sterilization, and documentation procedures to ensure safe and high-quality output.
