A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager / Estimator to join its growing team. This position will oversee project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution while preparing competitive bids for a variety of heavy civil construction projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
- Analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop competitive proposals.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop project budgets, schedules, and cost projections.
- Manage projects from award through completion, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track project costs, productivity, and financial performance.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and pay applications.
- Conduct project meetings and site visits as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, contract requirements, and quality expectations.
- Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, project management, or a combination of both.
- Experience with earthwork, grading, underground utilities, roadway construction, or site development projects.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and project sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience preparing estimates, budgets, and project schedules.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating/project management software.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
- Valid driver's license.
