Job Title: Senior Electrical EngineerJob DescriptionThe Senior Electrical Engineer will lead engineering design activities for industrial power systems, with a strong focus on AC power systems ranging from 120V to 15kV and PLC control systems. This role involves performing detailed power system design, preparing engineering calculations and documentation, creating specifications and drawing packages, and ensuring all designs comply with applicable codes and standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with electrical designers and project teams, contribute to field work and installation reviews, and support the growth of a satellite office for a large industrial design operation.
Responsibilities- Collect and prepare technical data and information to support electrical engineering designs for industrial power systems.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations, including short circuit analysis, voltage drop, cable, conduit and cable tray sizing, arc flash analysis, lighting calculations, and heat trace design.
- Design comprehensive electrical drawing packages such as one-line diagrams, installation details, bills of material, panel schedules, lighting plans, motor schematics, conduit and cable routing plans, and field wiring diagrams.
- Develop clear and accurate specifications for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, and related components.
- Complete electrical designs in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and other applicable industry standards and guidelines.
- Work closely with electrical designers, providing technical direction, guidance, and review of their work to ensure quality and consistency.
- Assist with field work activities, including checking installations against design documents and participating in troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts.
- Use engineering software tools such as AutoDesk Revit for 3D design, AutoCAD for 2D design, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP, and SKM for power system modeling and analysis.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders using strong interpersonal and communication skills to clarify requirements, present design solutions, and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, organize work effectively, and manage multiple tasks and priorities to meet project schedules.
- Adhere to safety practices and use required safety protections when visiting client sites, including environments with ladders, stairs, temperature extremes, varying air quality, and moderate to high noise levels.
- Travel occasionally by car or air to other company locations or client facilities as needed for project and field support.
