Step into an impactful role as a Special Education Teacher, supporting young learners in a self-contained K-1 classroom designed to meet the needs of students with developmental delays. In this full-time, contract-based position, you’ll work closely with a small group of kindergarten and first-grade students who benefit from both general and adapted curricular approaches. The classroom is supported by two dedicated paraprofessionals, fostering a collaborative and encouraging atmosphere each day.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and effective accommodations tailored to each student
- Deliver differentiated instruction across all primary content areas, including Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies
- Provide positive behavioral interventions and supports, contributing to a structured and safe environment
- Monitor student progress, keep meticulous compliance documentation, and ensure program fidelity
- Collaborate with administrators, related service providers, families, and support staff to maximize student achievement
- Employ evidence-based classroom management and behavior intervention strategies
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Georgia Special Education Adapted Curriculum Certification, with appropriate endorsements in all academic content areas (please provide proof)
- Demonstrated experience in writing and implementing IEPs
- Strong knowledge of effective behavioral interventions and classroom management best practices
- Comfortable working in both general and adapted curriculum settings
- Able to provide three professional references, including one recent supervisor (principal, assistant principal, or coordinator)
