Pharmacy Benefits Support Specialist
Location: The Colony, TX | Onsite
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
- $22 per hour
- Schedule: 8-hour shift scheduled between 7:00 AM–8:00 PM CST | Weekend and holiday rotations required
- Start Date: August 17, 2026
ROLE IMPACT
The Pharmacy Benefits Support Specialist provides accurate and timely assistance to patients and pharmacy partners regarding prescription benefits and claim-related questions. This position focuses on resolving inquiries at the first point of contact, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, and providing a professional, patient-focused experience through phone, email, and chat. Success in this role requires accuracy, efficiency, and effective communication in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare support environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for patients and pharmacy partners through phone, email, and chat
- Investigate and resolve prescription claim concerns, benefit questions, and coverage inquiries
- Assist with prior authorization and benefits-related requests while ensuring accurate documentation in internal systems
- Clearly communicate pharmacy benefit information, coverage details, and required next steps to patients
- Escalate complex or sensitive cases to the appropriate internal teams for further resolution
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Pharmacy Technician (Pharm Tech) license required
- Employee must obtain PTCB or ExCPT certification within 6 months of hire if not already certified
- High School Diploma or GED required
Clinical Skill Set
- Pharmacy benefits support and insurance verification
- Prescription claim review and issue resolution
- Prior authorization processing
- Healthcare documentation and case management systems
- HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
- Multichannel patient communication, including phone, email, and chat
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience with pharmacy benefits, insurance verification, or healthcare claims
- Familiarity with CRM, ticketing, or case management platforms
- Bilingual communication skills
