SHIPPING MANAGER- Manufacturing Oriented
Overview
The Shipping Manager/Expeditor is charged with responsibility for the everyday activities of the warehouse and all outgoing shipments to customers and vendors and to make sure shipments to customers are on time.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include ongoing warehousing activities including the training, directing and evaluating of those employees under his/her direct supervision. The Shipping Manager/Expeditor will be directly responsible for outgoing shipments to customers and vendors and to make sure all shipments to customers are on time.
Tasks
1. Shipping Responsibilities
a. All outgoing customer and vendor paperwork to include (but not be limited to) Packing slips, bills of lading, labels.
b. Call in trucks for pick-up and confirmation
c. Make sure deliveries to customers are on time.
d. Obtain freight rate quotes for shipments.
2. Warehouse Responsibilities
a. Confirm that all inventories for stock have been properly tagged and placed in warehouse locations.
b. Will perform quarterly cycle count audits, these are to consist of comparing ten location and ten data base audits.
c. Maintain the warehouse area in a safe, clean and organized manner.
d. Maintain adequate stock of all shipping supplies, boxes and janitorial supplies. Prepare requests to purchase as needed.
3. Administrative Responsibilities
a. The Shipping Manager/Expeditor will have direct responsibility for tasking and performance of the warehouse and shipping staff assigned to him/her.
b. Enforce and follow Carteret`s policies and procedures.
c. Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by Management.
SKILLS
Must be able to supervise employees as well as work in an ERP System, Excel, Word, UPS On-line, and Fedex and customer portals.
Should have background experience in warehousing. Able to follow directions and be conscientious about their work and work environment.
Education
Individuals seeking this position should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to read, write and communicate in English.
