The Expeditor is responsible for monitoring the status of open production orders and ensuring that materials, components, and jobs move through the production floor without unnecessary delay. The right person is persistent, detail-oriented, and understands that their job is to remove obstacles before they become missed deliveries. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES • Monitor open work orders across all production departments to identify jobs at risk of missing their scheduled ship date • Work with department leads to ensure workloads progress on schedule and customer ship dates stay achievable and realistic • Communicate with Schedulers and Managers on all potential delays, bottlenecks, or resource constraints affecting delivery • Support clear interdepartmental communication across production, purchasing, and engineering to strengthen coordination of overall operations • Track material availability for open orders; coordinate with purchasing and receiving to expedite critical inbound materials as needed • Physically walk the production floor to verify job location, WIP status, and hold conditions affecting on-time delivery • Review drawings and specifications as needed; define correct materials, tooling, and quantities required for jobs and document the production process • Evaluate and implement ways to increase efficiency of new and existing jobs in coordination with scheduling and operations leadership • Maintain accurate order status records in current and future ERP systems; update estimated completion dates based on actual production floor conditions • Identify recurring expediting patterns and surface root causes to operations and scheduling leadership for permanent resolution
