POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible to assist with the financial affairs and accounting operations of the organization. Maintains a system to retain financial reports and implement a comprehensive set of controls and budgets to mitigate risk. Responsible for the preparation of financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements and reports with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. This position ensures compliance of the organization with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other applicable standards and legislation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, Human Resources, and Operations, etc.
• Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Supervises employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, journal entries, and budgeting duties.
• Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Prepares or directs preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Provides direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
• Analyzes the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
• Advises management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Monitors financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
• Evaluates needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and makes appropriate recommendations.
• Performs budget vs. actual analysis for the Corporate Division on a monthly basis.
• Prepares various cash, AP discount, and capitalization reports on a monthly basis.
• Reviews and approves applications for new credit arrangements.
• Assists with annual review of inventory and analyzes variances in the ERP system. Calculates variances and reports significant issues to management.
• Prepares annual budget for equipment expenditures and tracks budget variances.
• Maintains established contracts for the organization.
• Assists with training of accounting and administrative staff as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent, is desired.
