Position Summary
The Lead Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Clinical Operations serves as the clinical leader for all Medical Assistants across the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring excellence in clinical operations through leadership, education, quality assurance, process improvement, workforce development, and standardization of clinical practices.
This leader partners closely with providers, Practice Administrators, Human Resources, Quality, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, and Executive Leadership to ensure every clinic consistently delivers safe, efficient, patient-centered care.
The Lead LVN is responsible for developing clinical talent, establishing best practices, monitoring quality metrics, leading clinical training initiatives, and supporting the organization's continued growth through scalable clinical workflows.
This role combines leadership, education, quality management, operational strategy, and direct clinical oversight.
The ideal candidate is an experienced nurse leader with exceptional organizational skills, strong clinical judgment, outstanding communication abilities, and a passion for developing high-performing clinical teams.
Position Purpose
The Lead LVN exists to ensure every Medical Assistant throughout the organization practices at the same high clinical standard regardless of clinic location or specialty.
The Lead LVN is expected to continuously improve patient care, employee competency, provider satisfaction, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Leadership Responsibilities
Serve as the clinical leader for all Medical Assistants across the organization.
Provide day-to-day clinical guidance and support.
Develop accountability within MA teams.
Coach employees toward clinical excellence.
Conduct regular one-on-one development meetings.
Identify future leaders within the MA team.
Assist with disciplinary coaching regarding clinical performance.
Partner with Practice Administrators regarding employee performance.
Promote teamwork between departments.
Lead by example.
Support organizational culture initiatives.
Clinical Operations
Develop standardized workflows across all clinic locations.
Ensure consistency in:
Monitor workflow efficiency.
Recommend operational improvements.
Develop clinical checklists.
Assist with clinic openings.
Support provider onboarding.
Evaluate staffing models.
Develop scalable clinical processes as the organization grows.
Medical Assistant Training & Development
Design and oversee the organization's MA onboarding program.
Develop competency checklists.
Create standardized training materials.
Develop annual competency assessments.
Lead skills validation.
Conduct classroom instruction.
Perform clinical demonstrations.
Evaluate new hire competency.
Develop continuing education programs.
Maintain employee training records.
Identify knowledge gaps.
Develop remediation plans.
Coordinate cross-training initiatives.
Mentor Float Medical Assistants.
Prepare future Lead Medical Assistants.
Develop career progression pathways.
Quality Assurance & Clinical Auditing
Develop the MA Quality Assurance Program.
Perform routine clinical audits including:
Perform random competency observations.
Trend deficiencies.
Develop corrective action plans.
Monitor quality metrics.
Present quality reports to leadership.
Implement improvement initiatives.
