Five Lakes Automotive is looking for an experienced Automotive Technician / Mechanic who can confidently handle repairs and work independently without needing constant direction.
This is a great opportunity for a technician who has moved beyond basic maintenance and is comfortable taking ownership of more involved repair jobs. Our shop handles everything from routine service to major mechanical repairs, including engine and transmission replacements, timing chains, suspension work, brakes, and diagnostics.
We are looking for someone dependable, experienced, and capable of diagnosing problems and completing repairs correctly and efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment, vehicle inspections, and hands-on troubleshooting
- Perform engine replacements and engine repairs
- Perform transmission replacements and drivetrain repairs
- Replace timing chains and related engine components
- Diagnose and repair suspension and steering systems
- Perform brake repairs and replacements
- Complete routine maintenance and other general automotive repairs as needed
- Use diagnostic scanners and shop software to read trouble codes and interpret vehicle data
- Document findings, recommended repairs, and parts needed in the shop management system
- Manage assigned repair jobs independently and complete work accurately and efficiently
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of professional automotive repair experience
- Ability to work independently and complete repairs without constant supervision
- Experience with intermediate to advanced automotive repairs, including engines, transmissions, timing components, suspension, and brakes
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work on a variety of vehicle makes and models
- Comfortable using diagnostic scanners and automotive repair software
- Must have your own set of tools for daily automotive repair work
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Dependable, organized, and committed to quality workmanship
Compensation
$24 - $35 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.
