What you will do.
ATS technicians are trained to provide quality maintenance on our growing fleet of over-the-road trucks and trailers. You'll perform a variety of work including, inspecting, diagnosing, replacing and repairing brake systems ABS, electrical components, steering systems, multi-axle alignments, hydraulic systems, welding/fabrication of steel and aluminum and related equipment. You'll work independently while being part of a great team!
What does it take to be an ATS Technician?
Summary
The Trailer Technician Level 3 is responsible for the inspection, service, repair and preventative maintenance of the various types of ATS owned trailers by using ATS and industry standard methods and criteria to ensure the trailer is safe to be on the road. Functions of this position include: inspecting, diagnosing, replacing and repairing brake systems ABS, electrical components, steering systems, multi-axle alignments, hydraulic systems, welding / fabrication of steel and aluminum and related equipment
Education and Experience
1. Two year AAS Degree in medium/heavy truck diesel program and/or a minimum 1 to 3 years of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc. and experience in cutting and welding is preferred.
2. Good working Knowledge of DOT regulations and Out of Service parameters for tractors, trailers and accessorial equipment.
3. Good working knowledge of trailer maintenance and diagnostic software.
4. A valid driver's license, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
5. Must be able to operate all related shop equipment.
6. Must be DOT certified and forklift certified, or able to demonstrate through on the job inspections and certified by the ATS trainer within 90 days of hire if work experience is applicable.
7. Good communications skills (written, verbal, listening).
8. An understanding of basic computer operations.
9. Good decision-making, problem-solving, attention to detail and customer service skills (internal/external).
10. Competent in using computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
11. Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
12. Ability to read installation manuals and understand manufacturer training.
13. Working knowledge of proper procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
Level 2 have in addition to above
1. Two year AAS Degree in medium/heavy truck diesel program and/or a minimum 3+ years of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc. and experience in cutting and welding is preferred.
2.Two years plus in welding Mig/Aluminum
3. Must be DOT Certified
4.Good electrical troubleshooting skills
Level 1 in addition to above
1.Two year AAS Degree in medium/heavy truck diesel program and/or a minimum 5+ years of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc. and experience in cutting and welding is preferred.
2. Must have 4+ years of experience MIG/Aluminum Welding
3.Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills
4. Advanced knowledge of Hydraulic systems and wireless steer systems. Can diagnosis on both Tridec and Lodar systems.
