We are looking for a Sr. Advanced Mechanical Engineer to support the evaluation, design, analysis, and manufacturing of gas turbine engine fan components and systems.
In this role, you will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality teams, suppliers, and customers to solve complex technical issues and support production, supplier transitions, value engineering, and design changes.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural, thermal, stress, modal, vibration, fatigue, and life analysis of gas turbine engine components.
- Conduct 3D finite element analysis using ANSYS or equivalent FEA tools.
- Perform engineering evaluations and hand calculations to assess component strength, performance, and durability.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Support supplier and manufacturing issues, including design substantiation and quality reviews.
- Evaluate engineering changes, deviations, waivers, and other design modifications.
- Work with local and global engineering teams to develop and review analysis requirements and results.
- Support aerospace manufacturing processes including casting, machining, welding, and heat treatment.
- Use 3D CAD and structured-light scanning/GOM analysis to evaluate engine components.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations to engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and leadership.
- Support initiatives focused on reducing design and manufacturing costs and improving cycle time.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of engineering experience.
- Experience with gas turbine engines, aircraft engines, or APUs.
- Strong experience with FEA and stress analysis.
- Experience using ANSYS or an equivalent FEA tool.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes.
- Experience with mechanical/structural analysis, fatigue, vibration, thermal analysis, or component life evaluation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fan, compressor, turbine, or other gas turbine engine components.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling.
- Experience with GOM/structured-light scanning.
- Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
- Strong understanding of gas turbine engine systems and component requirements.
