Education Specialist
**Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):**
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Certifications: Doula certification and Childbirth Education Teacher. Five (5) years of full-time experience as birth doula, supporting birthing families through all stages of pregnancy, prenatally though postpartum (in person and virtual). Experience as a Childbirth educator. Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Docs and Zoom.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Certification: CPR/BLS. Bilingual English/Spanish.
**Brief Description of Duties:**
**1.Childbirth Educator:** The Childbirth Educator is responsible for preparing expectant parents for labor, birth, and early parenting through comprehensive, evidence-based education. This role involves teaching classes, providing emotional support, and empowering parents with the knowledge and skills they need for a positive birth experience. The classes will be laid out as follows:
1. Class One:
a. Preparing Your Mind and Body
b. Labor Stages and Phases/breathwork
2. Class Two:
a. Birth Confidence and Decision-Making
b. Birth Planning and Informed Choice
3. Class Three:
a. Postpartum Planning and Prep
b. Body Feeding and Newborn Care
4. Class Four:
a. Hands on practice, mock scenarios
b. Closing ceremony
**2- Doula Program Coordinator:** The role of the doula coordinator involves helping prepare aspiring doulas to provide effective, compassionate support for birthing individuals. This role will be assisting with training support, coordinating the doula team for comprehensive prenatal, labor, and postpartum support, program doula support, doula liaison for the program directors.
**Duties:**
+ Planning, developing and implementing Childbirth education classes.
+ Evaluate, design, train all Stony Brook Doulas.
+ Administrative tasks related to Childbirth education classes and Doula Program.
+ Other duties as assigned.
