Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting employees and leaders across a broad range of HR functions, with a primary focus on leave-of-absence administration and benefits management. This role ensures compliance with applicable regulations, delivers a high-quality employee experience, and partners with internal stakeholders to support organizational objectives.
Job Functions
Leave of Absence Management
- Administer all employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, state-specific leaves, and company-sponsored leave policies
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leave requests, eligibility, and documentation requirements
- Coordinate with third-party administrators (if applicable) to ensure timely and accurate case management
- Track and monitor leave usage, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Partners with managers to support return-to-work processes, accommodations, and transitional work arrangements
- Maintain accurate and confidential leave records and documentation
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and wellness initiatives
- Act as a resource for employees regarding benefits eligibility, enrollment, and claims issues
- Support annual open enrollment, including communications, system setup, and employee education
- Liaise with benefits brokers and vendors to resolve issues and ensure service quality
- Reconcile benefits billing and ensure accurate payroll deductions
- Assist in evaluating and recommending improvements to benefits offerings
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
- Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
HR Generalist Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers across multiple functions
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a positive employee experience
- Assist with employee relations matters, including investigations, documentation, and coaching
- Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws
- Maintain HRIS data integrity and generate reports as needed
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives such as policy updates, training programs, and process improvements
- Assists with new-hire orientations
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- 3+ years of HR experience, with a strong focus on leave administration and benefits
- Solid understanding of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, and applicable state leave laws
- Experience working with HRIS and benefits administration systems
- Demonstrated Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
- Experience working with third-party leave administrators and benefits brokers
- Multi-state leave administration experience
