Position Overview:
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for working on the creation, modification and improvements of robotic equipment used in warehouse automation in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Conceptualization, design, analysis, fabrication and testing of automated material handling equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Create and design 3D machinery, tailor-made sets, and subsets.
- Provide technical support to the production of projects.
- Develop and modify tools and equipment devices of robotic cells.
- Visit customers to retrieve data.
- Prepare purchase requisitions for equipment or special components.
- Search for products and components, contact suppliers.
- Commissioning of equipment and participating in fabrication and assembly tasks.
- Participate in the elaboration of maintenance & operations manuals.
- Supervise, elaborates, defines and plans work from relatively clear objectives.
- Designing of parts, mechanisms, weldments, and industrial structures
- Elaborates and documents test procedures for prototype validation.
- Validate critical mechanical components.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
- 2+ years of work experience in a hands-on Mechanical engineering or design role .
- 2+ years of experience in the robotics industry or other relevant field.
- Understanding of design intent across disciplines (electrical, controls, robotics, and vision).
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, other CAD software and FEA are assets.
- Proficient in design and drafting standards.
- Understanding of fabrication processes (turning, milling, welding, etc.).
- PLM and/or PDM experience.
