Description
The Chief Operating Officer of Marcon Engineering Inc. plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing all operational aspects of our General Construction company. This senior leadership position requires a strategic mindset, exceptional managerial skills, and deep industry knowledge to navigate challenges and ensure operational excellence, customer satisfaction, financial success, and business growth.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, profitability, and market competitiveness. Collaborate closely with executive team members to align operations with overall business objectives.
Operational Oversight: Direct and manage daily operations, including production planning, scheduling, quality control, and logistics. Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental policies.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse team of managers and staff across various functions such as production, maintenance, procurement, and distribution. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork.
Financial Management: Drive financial performance through effective budgeting, cost control measures, and resource allocation. Analyze financial data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to make informed decisions and achieve operational targets.
Customer Focus: Maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders. Address client inquiries and concerns promptly, striving to deliver exceptional service and meet client expectations.
Technology and Innovation: Identify and implement innovative technologies and best practices to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Promote a culture of safety awareness and responsibility throughout the organization.

Duties
Leadership: Provide mental and emotional stability, good direction, and clear goals within operations.
Team Building: Ensure each team member’s talents and abilities match up to their job duties and responsibilities by ensuring the necessary training and tools for success.
Financial: Develop, implement, and oversee budgets, Ownership of “Profit and Loss” Accountability of annual operations goals, Review, interpret, and discuss monthly JPR with CEO, Review and discuss monthly overhead with CEO, Prepare, review, and discuss monthly WiPs with CEO.
Sales: Strategize with the CEO for new business opportunities, strategize with the Director of BD sales forecast, sales goals, and sales force requirements, and meet weekly with the Director of BD and Business developers to review the current market and trends to develop action steps for project capture Coordinate with Director of BD/PM/Ops Manager the WIP (Work in Progress) schedule for bidding purposes, Review ALL RFPs with Chief Estimator, Coordinate ALL technical proposals, Strategize with the Director/estimating team on ALL bids, Create an in-house design-build team
Execution
Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and schedules. Run weekly “job status meeting”, review and approve weekly payroll, and review subcontractor status, labor, and material “budgets versus actuals” for each project weekly, monthly, or as required with PMs to ensure cost control and margins. Review ALL Sure track schedules weekly with PMs, review all subcontracts before sending for execution Oversee ALL subcontractor negotiations
Collection
Review and approve monthly billings, Review and approve COR and C/Os, Review and approve weekly AP, Review and approve “quick pays”, and Assist office manager with AR to ensure payments are received promptly

Position Terms / Expected Hours of Work:
Marcon Eng. salaried employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week During a busy season in some cases this position will require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
