Sheet Piling Services (SPS) is searching for a qualified structural engineer to provide structural analysis and design services to support the internal construction activities within our three (3) divisions: Heavy Civil (DOT), Railroad, and Pipeline. The structural engineer will work directly with our project staff, perform field visits, and work with internal fabrication personnel to develop safe and efficient designs that assist our crews in their activities. We are looking for a self-driven problem-solver with strong communication skills with a construction or engineering consulting background. Objectives of this role
· Ensure each design meets applicable codes, regulations, and quality standards
· Develop constructable designs that can withstand routine use and inspection
· Organize and develop internal design tools for routine applications
· Apply technical knowledge to meet stakeholder expectations
Responsibilities
- Leads the structural design of formwork, falsework, and temporary shoring under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Develops critical pick plans and removal plans
- Assists in structural engineering components of estimating
- Assists in managing internal steel fabrication
- Assists in tracking material and equipment inventory
- Interacts with external design staff, suppliers, and DOT staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred) or related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering License in the state of WI
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Structural Analysis and Design software such as SAP-2000, Risa 3-D, ETABS, STAAD PRO, etc.
- Experience with AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Ability to self-learn and take initiative
- Experience applying major structural design codes (AASHTO, AISC, ACI, AWS)
Additional Information
- The position will be based in Stevens Point, WI
- Travelling of 15% or more is required for this position.
- Base salary is dependent on multiple factors: education, experience, skills, and market rates.
