Position Overview:
Arcxis is the residential largest engineering and inspection company in the US. As part of the growth of Arcxis the Forensic Department has become a fast-paced service department helping builders across the nation with warranty concerns, structural concerns, and residential litigation-related concerns, along with homeowner and home builder education. Arcxis currently provides services for 19 out of the top 20 builders in the nation. Arcxis is looking for a full-time structural engineer with 4 or more years of experience in the residential industry in concrete foundations and wood-framed construction to join our forensic engineering department. We are looking for an ambitious candidate who has experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel. This person is required to have previous structural design experience with wood construction and concrete foundations. This position will be based out of our Houston office and would help provide support to our teams across the nation. Candidates in San Antonio, DFW, Austin, Tennessee, North Carolina, & South Carolina can apply but several weeks of training in Houston may be required. Examples of common daily work would include but are not limited to foundation movement evaluations, residential frame distress analysis, analysis of structural members existing and proposed, field support solutions during the construction process, providing scope and guidance for inspectors all over the nation, and the preparation of the engineering reports.
The candidate will work directly under an experienced senior-level licensed professional engineer, who is licensed in over 25 states across the US and who is also based out of our Houston office. Our current senior engineer for the forensic department has mentored many of our engineers and aided them in acquiring the necessary experience and skills to be successful. Minimal travel will be required but will be necessary on occasion. Most travel will be short 1-2 day trips. Candidates without a professional engineering license need not apply. PE License from states other than Texas will be considered but the candidate must be able to obtain additional PE licenses in multiple states. The position requires high-level writing skills. The most common daily work will be writing reports based on inspections performed by trained inspectors all over the nation with foundation movement analysis being the most common reports prepared. Most projects require 2-8 hours to complete.

Generally, Monday – Friday 8-5, however, additional hours and overtime are required on occasion during peak building season.
