Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our team in Hamilton Township, NJ. The ideal candidate will have experience in filing state and federal taxes and a solid background in small business accounting. This role involves working closely with clients to ensure compliance with tax regulations while maximizing tax savings and providing valuable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Preparation & Filing: Prepare and file state and federal tax returns for individuals, small businesses, and corporations in compliance with current tax laws.
- Small Business Accounting: Manage accounting tasks for small business clients, including bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and tax planning.
- Tax Planning & Advisory: Provide tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings for clients.
- Client Consultation: Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial information, answer tax-related questions, and offer solutions to their tax challenges.
- Compliance: Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns.
- Audits & Disputes: Assist clients with tax audits, respond to tax notices, and resolve any tax-related issues with federal or state agencies.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain organized and accurate tax records and documentation for all clients.
- Software Utilization: Utilize tax preparation and accounting software to manage tax filings and financial records efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax preparation and small business accounting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of state and federal tax laws, with specific experience in New Jersey tax regulations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, Pro series), and MS Office Suite.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Detail-oriented: Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all financial matters.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively.
