Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for but not limited to troubleshooting and performing mechanical repairs and adjustments of production machinery and equipment, including preventative maintenance under the guidance of Maintenance personnel
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to read and write in English
- 2 Year Technical School preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to work independently and draw from experience with minimal supervision
- Ability to problem solve and follow standardized practices and procedures
- Strong Mechanical aptitude;
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and PLC
- Must be flexible, reliable, work well with others, and be extremely safety-oriented

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for housekeeping work area, parts, and equipment
- Complete routine paperwork as required
- Service of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment, including the following:
- Replacement and adjustment of conveyors, cylinders, drive bels, couplings, bearings, shafts, pumps, directional valves, sensors, and chutes
- Lubrication and oil change
- Repair of production and Tool room machinery in a timely manner
- Ensure proper labelling of equipment and panels
- Determines nature and cause of machine malfunction
- Removes, replaces, or adjusts parts, and tests machine to verify effectiveness of repairs
- Returns repaired machines to service
- Performs preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
- Upgrades or installs machine guards and controls
- Lubricates and paints machines and equipment
- Sets up and operates lathe, grinder, welding equipment, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
- Installs and repairs plumbing, ventilation and electrical systems
- Performs other general maintenance
- Performs general building maintenance
- Documents completion of work orders and notifies requesters of job completion
- Requisitions or initiates purchase orders for repair materials, machine components and parts
Working Conditions
- Predominantly in a factory setting
- Involves handling or working near industrial chemicals or vapors such as solvents, cleaning agents and flammable liquids
- Involves operating or working near moving mechanical equipment
- May encounter moderate to loud noise levels created by power tools, production machinery and heavy traffic
Effort/Physical Demands
- Adequate vision acuity
- Frequent long hours/weekends possible
- May be required to stand for up to 12 hours during a work shift
- Stoop or crouch to adjust equipment or retrieve parts
- Reach overhead or forward to retrieve parts or hand tools
- Lift materials or objects of up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
- Manipulate small parts, operate machine controls with hands or fingers
- Perform repetitive operations with hands and fingers
- Maintain concentration and attention to detail
- Able to work above ground (i.e. elevated work platform, ladder)
- Frequent requirement of handling heavy equipment (operation)
- Frequent need to give concentrated attention to surroundings
