We are offering a contract to hire opportunity for a Controller in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role involves a range of financial activities and working closely with the accounting and operations teams to enhance accounting processes and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost reductions. The chosen candidate will be responsible for supervising a small accounting team and providing support to the CFO.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily accounting activities to maintain the company's general ledger
• Supervise, direct, and review the work of the accounting staff, including cash reconciliations, intercompany statement reconciliations, check runs, accounts receivable transactions, fixed asset activity, payroll, accounts payable transactions, sales tax, debt activity, and recording of revenue and expenses
• Support and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Support annual audits and prepare financial, fiscal, and other ad hoc financial reports
• Review the general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting
• Monitor and implement internal controls
• Manage day-to-day activities and operations for three direct reports
• Conduct weekly meetings with CFO, CEO, and department heads on weekly updates and progress tracking on projects
• Prepare rebates for customers as directed by the terms of their contracts
• Implement process improvements for department structure
• Approve payments up to a certain threshold and handle cash position reporting.• Candidate must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position
• Proficiency in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software is required
• Demonstrated experience in month-end close processes
• Possess skills in bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
• Must have a solid understanding of balance sheet account reconciliation
• Familiarity with account reconciliation to maintain and verify the accuracy of financial data
• Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred
• CPA certification is an advantage
