We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in the construction and contractor industry, based in Ashland, Virginia. This role involves comprehensive financial management, including overseeing credit-related functions, assisting branch managers, and providing accounting and business support to dealership locations.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and JSOX.
• Oversee all credit-related functions, from approvals to collections.
• Provide support to Branch Managers in their business activities and step in during their absence.
• Monitor and report monthly financial performance, analyzing and commenting on variances to budget or forecasts.
• Interact with external auditors, preparing materials and addressing questions related to dealership operations and accounting.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and other short/long term financial planning strategies.
• Identify areas of opportunity or improvement within the dealership and collaborate with relevant departments to implement necessary processes and procedures.
• Interact with corporate accounting to ensure appropriate accounting of intercompany transactions and resolve related issues.
• Work with local, state, and federal governing bodies and tax authorities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Oversee inventory controls at all branch locations, directing the annual or semiannual physical inventory counts.
• Assess dealership's IT resources and equipment periodically to ensure compatibility with needs and liaise with corporate IT department for replacements or upgrades.
• Review and finalize all contracts/agreements related to dealership operations.
Skills:
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and Crystal Reports.
• Experience with Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Knowledge of Auditing and Budget Processes.• Must possess strong proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with Crystal Reports is essential
• Must have a solid understanding of Accounting Functions
• Demonstrated ability in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Prior experience with Auditing is required
• Must be adept at managing Budget Processes
• Experience in the construction/contractor industry is preferred
• Should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team and lead when necessary
• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
• Must have a keen attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
• Professional certification such as CPA is an advantage.
