Key Responsibilities for the Tax Preparer:

• Tax Return Preparation: Prepare and assist in the preparation of simple to complex tax returns for individuals and small businesses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
• Client Interviews: Conduct interviews with clients to obtain additional information on taxable income, deductible expenses, and allowances, ensuring thorough and accurate tax preparation.
• Tax Adjustments & Deductions: Utilize appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to minimize clients' tax liabilities while maximizing compliance with applicable laws.
• Tax Computation: Accurately compute taxes owed or overpaid using adding machines or personal computers, ensuring correct entries on forms in line with tax form instructions and tables.
• Data Verification: Review and verify data input and totals on forms prepared by others to detect and correct errors in arithmetic, data entry, or procedures.
• Consultation: Consult tax law handbooks, bulletins, and other resources to determine the correct procedures for preparing atypical or complex returns.
• Client Advisory: Furnish taxpayers with sufficient information and advice to ensure accurate tax form completion and provide guidance on future tax planning.
• Financial Record Review: Analyze financial records such as income statements and expenditure documentation to determine the necessary forms and information required for accurate tax return preparation.

Qualifications for the Tax Preparer :

• Proven experience as a Tax Preparer or in a similar role within a CPA firm or accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency in tax preparation software and financial databases.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively.
• A commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and trust.

Compensation for the Tax Preparer: $20 - $24 per hour (DOE).

This is a Contract to Hire position/ non-remote
