Job Summary
A Medical Assistant is needed for an expanding medical practice, located in Fayetteville, GA. The successful candidate must be pleasant, punctual, trustworthy and committed to providing excellent patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Greeting patients and clients.
- Answering telephone calls.
- Scheduling patients. Scheduling meetings for physician.
- Check in and check out patients. Collecting co-pays.
- Verifying patient insurance plans.
- Scanning, faxing and filing paperwork. Data Entry.
- Collect and distribute mail.
- Any other clerical duties required by the Office Manager or Physician.
- Rooming and obtaining patient vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and respiration; weight checks, updating allergies and current medication in the EHR.
- Interviewing new patients- updating review of systems, history of present illnesses, current medications and accurately documenting past medical, social and family history.
- Reporting aberrant values and noteworthy issues to the physician prior to patient examination.
- Assisting patients with filling out patient questionnaires and inputting questionnaire answers into the EHR.
- Verifying the patient charts and ensuring that the patient's diagnostic tests have been received, scanned into the patient charts and reviewed prior to the examination.
- Administering urine drug screens and sending off urine samples to the laboratory daily.
- Filling out proper lab forms and ICD-10 codes on the lab sheets accurately.
- Placing orders per the physician, including physical therapy, lab work and diagnostic tests as required.
- Completing patient follow up instructions.
- Assisting the physician in medical procedures- preparing patients for procedures; assisting patients to get onto and off the procedure table, move and operate the C-Arm.
- Sanitizing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments used for interventional procedures after each visit.
- Maintaining the laboratory, procedure room and medical examination room inventory, ordering supplies and notifying the practice manager when supplies are needed and equipment may need to be repaired or replaced.
- Performing other clinical duties that are within the scope of a Medical Assistant.
- Performing front office duties
