Job Summary:
The Imports and Logistics Coordinator performs complex administrative activities to ensure the timely and cost-efficient delivery of product and raw material from overseas suppliers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and issue purchase orders to acquire raw material.
- Request and verify all shipping / quality documents sent by the suppliers.
- Create and update vessel and container records in X3 based on actual shipping date and actual arrival date of product.
- Process invoices for raw material and related costs for raw materials, e.g. customs broker invoice, trucking invoice, commission invoices, arrival notice invoices.
- Coordinate container delivery schedule with warehouse staff and third-party agency for container unloading.
- Coordinate closely with freight forwarders, trucking companies and ocean carriers to ensure product is delivered by last free day posted at the terminal.
- Create receipts for overseas and domestic raw material.
- Monitor inventory level for all locations.
- Coordinate container deliveries to Subcontract/treatment facility.
- Track and report container movements and domestic shipments.
- Maintains current knowledge of external factors that could affect availability of goods and pricing such as: import regulations, taxes, tariffs, and political and economic situations in the countries of origin
- Attends daily production meeting and other meetings as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
-Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite software, particularly Excel required
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience:
-Bachelors Degree in Business / Supply Chain Management preferred
-4 years of experience working in the food importing industry required
-Experience working with ocean carriers and tracking container movement
-Experience working with SAGE ERP software preferred
Physical Requirements:
-Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
-Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds on occasion
-Must occasionally walk through the warehouse to visually inspect product
