TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING MANAGER
Summary
The Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for recording and reconciling entries related to the Bank’s investments, derivatives, purchased pool loans, subordinated debt, equity compensations, tax, and CECL reserve. In addition, this role will prepare the monthly financial statements, supporting schedules and consolidation, own all GL maintenance and controls and the preparations of schedules and timelines for the regulatory reporting requirements of the Bank. This role will also be responsible for the review of several daily, weekly, and month-end reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Act as key performer in the accurate preparation and compiling support over various financial and regulatory reporting including monthly financials, quarterly and annual financial statements, and regulatory reporting (Call Report, QCD, Y9, FR2900, PDPA).
- Prepare the deferred tax workbook, investment accounting, and CECL workbook including updating documentation.
- Perform and review general accounting entries including daily recons, P&I recons and month-end close entries as assigned.
- Perform and assist in review of balance sheet reconciliations including the timely research and resolution of outstanding items.
- Cross-train and act as backup to other members of the accounting team including support of daily settlement and daily reconciliations.
- Aid in the preparation and review of the monthly variance analysis and Board package.
- Research and document technical accounting and regulatory guidance as needed in addition to streamlining reporting and documenting procedures.
- Prepare quarterly equity roll-forward including reviewing and understanding stock compensation plans.
- Key stakeholder in ensuring the documented system of internal controls, accounting policies and procedures are operating effectively.
- Main liaison for the internal and external audit process.
- Assist in the preparation of footnotes and supporting schedules included in the Bank’s audited financial statements.
- Assist in monitoring liquidity, debt levels and compliance with debt covenants and preparation of sub-debt calculations.
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings including tax returns, personal/real property tax, sales and use tax, and 1099s.
- Support Management in completing special projects, ad hoc reporting and analysis requests.
- Aid in the testing, implementation or enhancements of new systems including a new ERP system.
- Assist in the planning and management of month-end close process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Master’s Degree and CPA License strongly preferred.
- 5-8 years of progressively responsible and relative experience
- Experience in public accounting and industry strongly preferred.
- Previous Banking or Financial Services is strongly desired.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of ERP operating systems. Strong Excel skills required.
- Strong organizational time management skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to grasp concepts and processes.
- Must be able to work in a team environment with the ability to interact well, and in a positive manner, with co-workers and management.
