Description:
The Supply Chain Manager will enhance customer relationships through detailed analysis of service levels, inventory metrics, customer forecasts, and sales projections. This role involves collaborating with various company departments, high-level vendors, and internal management to develop strategic supply chain insights that result in a competitive advantage and operational efficiency. As a key member of the quality team, the Supply Chain Manager is also responsible for overseeing quality control processes and working closely with suppliers to address and resolve quality-related issues.
Requirements:
What You’ll do:
Team Management:
- Hire, train, and oversee the supply chain team; manage daily workflows and schedules.
- · Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations and develop development plans for team members.
Procurement Oversight:
- Direct all procurement activities to align with company goals and optimize supply chain performance.
- Negotiate prices for raw materials and purchased goods to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Inventory Management:
- Assess inventory levels to meet company metrics; analyze and improve current inventory procedures.
Vendor Management:
- Oversee vendor processes, ensuring accountability for responsiveness, delivery times, quality, and accuracy.
- Collaborate with vendors to address and resolve quality issues, ensuring that products meet the company’s quality standards and requirements.
Negotiation:
- Negotiate prices for raw materials and purchased goods to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Forecasting:
- Create and maintain a rolling 18-month forecast for customers and vendors.
Strategy Development:
- Research and develop strategies to find alternative sources for current products and identify new suppliers for product development.
Quality Assurance:
- Quality Control Oversight: Work closely with the quality team to ensure that supply chain processes and vendor practices align with the company's quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Supplier Quality Management: Monitor and address quality issues with suppliers, coordinating corrective actions and ensuring resolution of any quality concerns.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of quality control processes, incorporating feedback and insights from supply chain operations and vendor interactions.
- Quality Documentation: Assist in maintaining quality-related documentation, including records of quality issues and corrective actions taken, to support continuous improvement efforts.
Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years in supply chain management, focusing on procurement or forecasting, and 5+ years managing a supply chain team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities with a proven ability to build positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
- Effective supervisory and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of company products and logistics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, extract insights, and identify trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (Excel superuser).
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused with the ability to work across all organizational levels.
- Experience with MRP systems is required; APICS certification is a plus.
