How You’ll Make an Impact

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Test Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing test plans, protocols, and methodologies to ensure the quality of our software solutions. You will contribute to Aptima’s innovation pipeline by working on projects through the entirety of their software development life cycle. You will interface with multiple teams within the organization as well as external partners and clients. You will work closely with engineers, quality assurance, product managers, and other stakeholders to develop testing frameworks to ensure that our software meets the highest standards of quality.

In this role, you will leverage your unique perspective as a test engineer to provide valuable insights during the design phase, focusing on stability, testability, and robustness. You will utilize established industry frameworks as well as create and maintain custom tools to rigorously test our software solutions, setting and achieving reliability benchmarks. Your responsibilities will include developing automated software test systems, performing exploratory testing, and conducting performance and security tests to identify and address potential issues before they impact the critical mission of our users in high consequence environments. Additionally, you will play a key role in refining our testing processes and methodologies, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Collaboration is essential in this position, as you will work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on quality objectives and testing strategies. You will participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of quality and excellence. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be crucial in translating complex technical concepts into actionable recommendations. By championing best practices in testing and quality assurance, you will help drive the success of our software projects and contribute to Aptima’s reputation for delivering high-quality, reliable software solutions.

You Can Expect To

• Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases to support the development team and the QA team
• Collaborate with the development team to identify and resolve software defects by analyzing test results and trends
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to ensure consistent and secure environments
• Automate repetitive testing tasks using test automation tools and frameworks
• Participate in the software development lifecycle, including requirements reviews and design discussions
• Maintain and enhance the existing test automation framework
• Ensure that testing activities align with project schedules and quality standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with the development team

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may be a substitute for a degree
• 3-5 years of experience in software testing, security testing, or DevSecOps roles
• Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., C#, Python, Java)
• Proficiency in at least one scripting programming language (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python)
• Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, MSTest, XUnit, JUnit)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems (e.g., Amazon Linux, RedHat, CentOS)
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify)
• Professional .NET experience
• Web development experience (e.g., HTML, CSS, Javascript)
• Security Clearance (Secret)
