We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Medical Secretary in our healthcare facility located in Palm Springs, California. This role is critical in ensuring smooth operations at our front desk, handling responsibilities that range from administrative tasks to exceptional patient service. As a Medical Secretary, you will be immersed in a dynamic environment where you will interact with patients, manage medical records, and contribute to maintaining an organized work setting.
Responsibilities:
• Efficiently manage and confirm appointments in line with healthcare provider schedules.
• Welcome patients to our facility, answer their queries, and provide necessary guidance.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of medical terminologies and health insurance policies.
• Handle billing procedures and insurance claim processes.
• Ensure all patient information and medical records are current and accurate.
• Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with laws, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked reception area.
• Perform other administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the healthcare facility.
• Direct patients to appropriate health services when necessary.
• Manage incoming telephone calls, providing information and forwarding to appropriate personnel when required.• Must possess at least 2 years of experience in a similar role within the Healthcare/NHS industry.
• Demonstrable skills in Answering Inbound Calls, directing callers to Appropriate Personnel.
• Experience with Authorizations and Billing Functions in a medical setting is essential.
• Proficient in Basic Medical Terminology.
• A strong understanding of Medical Billing processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn new software.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Must have a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Experience in patient scheduling and handling patient records would be an advantage.
