Position: Controller
Location: Whitington Services for Children and Families
Non-Profit seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company, ensuring financial compliance, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Revenue Recognition, and Payroll
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of annual financial statements
- Monitor and analyze financial performance and financial trends
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
- Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
- Manage financial audits and provide recommendations for improvements
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance
- Non-profit experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of Quickbooks and financial reporting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in a supervisory role is preferred
