CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join a reputable client in Irving, Texas. The Cost Accountant will have direct responsibility for the finance and accounting operations of the company, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and implementation of controls and budgets to mitigate risk. This role also ensures GAAP compliance and Defense Contracting Accounting Compliance. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will work in an office environment and oversee a small accounting team, while playing a key role in supporting the company’s growth and success.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all finance and accounting operational functions.
• Maintain and enforce documented accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage the accumulation of all financial data for accurate business results reporting.
• Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.
• Manage the budget and forecast process.
• Assess current accounting operations, recommend improvements, and implement new processes.
• Manage earned value job cost reporting and business performance metrics.
• Oversee tax planning and corporate tax reporting with outsourced CPA.
• Ensure compliance with DCAA and manage HR benefits through third-party providers.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting with a small or middle-market business.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience (MBA is a plus).
• Strong experience in cost accounting
• Solid communication, technology, analytical, and management skills.
• Knowledge of GAAP
• Eligibility for ITAR and defense contract work
• Experience with Sage 50, Peachtree Accounting, Aerospace/Defense/Space industries, and ERP systems is a plus.
