Our Client, a global leader in Commissioning Buildings Systems, is looking to fill a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Control Engineer position. This position works as a part of a team with other professionals at client or project job sites and provides opportunities for professional development.
BAS Control Engineer will apply knowledge of various building trades, such as electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, and information network systems to a computer-based BAS environment in commercial and industrial buildings. The BAS Control Engineer will interface with customers, architects, engineers, and contractors to design, procure, construct, and commission BAS projects.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with and programming Building Automation and Energy Management Systems.
- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent Field training in BAS Controls, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree from an accredited program. (or equivalent field training)
- Understanding of mechanical systems; what they do and how they operate.
- Understanding of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Understanding of Lighting Control Systems
- Understanding of Direct Digital Control Systems and Components.
- Understanding of Industry Open Communication Protocols: BACnet®, ModbusTM, Lonworks®, OPCTM, and MQTTTM.
- Understanding of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) Networks.
- Tridium® Niagara Framework® AX or N4 certification is strongly preferred.
- Previous Design-Build project execution experience is a plus.
Responsibilities for this job include providing Controls Systems design deliverables for the project(s) in the front end, detailed design, construction, and start-up phases. Perform HVAC & Lighting Control systems programming, troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, and preventative maintenance as it is related to mechanical, electrical, and low voltage controls components. Respond to service and warranty calls. Perform commissioning and system diagnostics for all levels of system controllers as well as end devices (i.e., Sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation
- Keeps management and construction team or customer informed of job progress and issues.
- Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to project plans, construction checklist, functional performance tests, time sheets, expense reports, and on-site meeting / site visit documentation.
- Works with a team of commissioning staff, Mechanical engineers, and Designers in the execution of design and interfaces with a multi-discipline project team consisting of a project manager, electrical, controls, estimating, and multiple engineering disciplines.
- Responsible for developing deliverables as well as commissioning and startup support of those design deliverables.
- Quality review of the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of electrical systems.
- Coordinates workload with Commissioning Department Manager.
- Interfaces directly with offsite design office and coordinates and tracks execution of all electrical controls department work to that office.
- This position will be accountable for making trips to job sites to survey and support installations and startups (travel about 50% - 60%).
