Automotive Test Engineer
Overview:
The Engineering Test Specialist at Netgroup Engineering plays a pivotal role in defining and executing verification criteria for features, functions, and field tests. Utilizing a variety of methods including simulation, rig tests, and physical vehicles, this position ensures the delivery of technical test requirements upstream in projects.
Responsibilities:
Feature Testing:
Conduct physical testing with a focus on fatigue and strength testing of systems and components within the durability feature domain.
Design transducers and rigs, conduct fatigue testing using hydraulic and electrodynamic test equipment.
Perform full vehicle data acquisition, corrosion and climate chamber testing, data analysis, and report writing.
Correlate digital models with field test data, especially in relation to E-mobility and emerging technologies.
Function Testing:
Understand functions and verification requirements to define test targets.
Develop test plans, manage test preparation and execution.
Analyze results and provide recommendations within respective technology areas.
Manage fault reports from tests, document results, and compile engineering reports (ER).
Continuously update Test Methods and propose updates of Technical Requirements in collaboration with technology areas.
Define strategies and develop test methods for new technologies and transport solutions.
Deploy and support feature, function testing, or field tests in new markets and sites.
Additional Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain test codes and methods.
Ensure fidelity of test methods and codes.
Provide expertise and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
Build a strong network across the organization.
Act as a subject matter expert and a go-to person for complex discipline-related issues.
Contribute to project roadmaps/strategies within the context of industry trends.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Extensive experience in engineering testing, preferably in automotive or related industries.
Proficiency in test planning, execution, and data analysis.
Strong knowledge of simulation, rig tests, and physical testing methodologies.
Familiarity with E-mobility and emerging technologies is a plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to mentor and train junior engineers.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Compensation - $87k - $97k+
