Our client is seeking a Controller who is passionate about financial management and accounting, and who is eager to grow with a dynamic organization. You will lead our financial accounting department, supervising two staff accountants and overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and accounting functions. This role involves month-end general ledger closing, financial reporting, budgeting, grant accounting and reporting, year-end audit activities, and tax filings and compliance. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.  Expected starting base salary $108,000 to $160,000 per year.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee payroll, accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and grant accounting functions.

• Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and year-end account reconciliations.

• Leverage team strengths, clarify roles, and develop training programs to achieve individual and organizational goals.

• Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

• Coordinate with the Director of Grants Management on grant-related financial activities.

• Develop and implement continuous improvements in financial and accounting operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or CPA certification required.

• At least 5 years’ accounting experience.

• 2+ years’ supervisory experience in an accounting department or auditing firm.
