JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The billing/collections clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely completion and submission of Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient billing, and accounts receivable tracking and follow-up. Home Health, Hospice, Physician, Private Duty Nursing, and Personal Assistant Services / LTSS billing experience required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately enters patient billing data into the information system.
- Performs verification of eligibility and authorization for services provided.
- Process and bills Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient claims in accordance with payer requirements and organization policy.
- Monitors accounts receivables, resubmits bills to overdue accounts, and alerts the billing manager of seriously overdue accounts.
- Post all payments, adjustments, and denials from third party payer paper or electronic remittances.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly billing and accounts receivable reports.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, payers, and other customers.
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient and organization information at all times.
- Performs other specific projects relating to billing, data entry, and computer operations as required.

Experience, Education and Training Minimum:
High school graduate or GED; 2 years’ experience in medical billing with Medicare Part A&B, Medi-Cal, Texas Medicaid, and other third-party payers required. 2 years’ experience in medical billing for Private Duty Nursing and Personal Assistant Services / LTSS required. Experience with ICD-10, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
Preferred experience working within the following software systems:
· HHAeXchange and other EVV software systems,
· Kinnser (WellSky)
· MUMMS
· Netsmart
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
