As an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe, you play a direct role in the care of our patients each day.
We are looking for a new team member with a positive attitude to work in Pawleys Island/ and or Myrtle Beach.

JOB DESCRIPTION: TECHNICIAN
General Summary of Duties: Gathers important medical information; performs visual screening and diagnostic prior to Ophthalmologist’s visit with patient.
Supervision Received: Reports directly to Clinic Manager
Typical Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing, walking, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires excellent communication skills and a keen understanding of patients with sensory impairment. Must be able to express a caring attitude while performing the tasks required with accuracy and efficiency. Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to perform necessary testing and reporting of findings.
Example of Duties:
- Greets patient and introduces self prior to eye exam.
- Completes a detailed patient history which includes: past medical history(systemic
and ocular), family medical history (systemic and ocular), medication history
(systemic and ocular), and the chief complaint (reason for the visit).
- Checks patient’s corrected visual acuity
- Performs one or more of the following exams: Ishihara Color Vision, Stereo, Amsler, Confrontational Visual Fields (CVF), Extra Ocular Movements (EOMS)
- Performs Applanation and Tono Pen tonometry on patient.
- Performs angle assessment and pupil assessment prior to dilating patient.
- Performs corneal Pachymetry, HVF, OCT and fundus photograph
