JOB DESCRIPTION
Advanced Vision Care is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team. Our office specializes in general ophthalmology, and surgery for glaucoma and cataracts. The ideal candidate is a detailed team player, who has a desire to learn and improve , and who has superior communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Interact with patients to accurately gather their medical history
· Check the patient’s vision and intraocular pressure, and perform ancillary testing including fundus photography, visual fields, optical biometry, optical coherent tomography and corneal topography. Refracting for glasses can be taught if interested.
· Assist the doctor in the exam room with documenting the office visit, and communicate with the patient regarding the treatment plan, including sending the appropriate prescription medications.
You should have the ability to grow, adapt, and accept change. We believe that employees should be cross trained at least to a basic level, so that one can assist other employees when needed, such as answering the phones, front desk check in duties, scheduling, etc.
EXPERIENCE
Prior Optometry, Ophthalmology, or medical background preferred, but we will train anyone.
If you have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and are motivated to learn, you can succeed.

High school or equivalent (Required)
EXPERIENCE
Ophthalmology/Optometry/Medical Assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
