Job Title: Quality InspectorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on performing precise inspections of metal parts for medical, industrial, and emerging aerospace and defense applications on 2nd shift. You will use advanced inspection tools and techniques, including GD&T, to ensure that all components meet strict quality standards in a clean, modern, and highly technical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Inspect metal parts for medical, industrial, and developing aerospace and defense applications on 2nd shift.
- Perform detailed GD&T inspections using electronic height gauges, comparators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
- Conduct first piece, in-process, final, and receiving inspections of machined parts to verify conformance to specifications and drawings.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to determine inspection criteria and measurement requirements.
- Use microscopes when necessary to perform fine visual inspections and identify defects or nonconformities.
- Perform visual inspections to detect surface defects, dimensional deviations, and other quality issues.
- Operate CMM equipment to perform dimensional inspections, and support CMM-based measurement routines as needed.
- Document inspection results accurately and completely, following established procedures and quality system requirements.
- Support and adhere to ISO 9001 quality standards and internal quality processes.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and other team members to communicate inspection findings and help resolve quality issues.
- Maintain inspection tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure proper calibration and handling.
- Work efficiently in a low-volume, high-mix environment, adapting to frequent part changes and diverse product lines.
Essential Skills- 3–5+ years of hands-on inspection experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Proficiency in quality inspection of metal parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, and thread gauges.
- Experience performing first piece, final, and receiving inspections of machined parts.
- Practical experience with GD&T and the ability to apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles during inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience operating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for dimensional inspection.
- Strong visual inspection skills, including the ability to identify defects and nonconformities.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and adherence to documented processes.
- Comfort using microscopes for detailed inspection work when required.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thorough documentation of inspection results.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- CMM programming experience is a plus.
- Exposure to inspection work in medical, industrial, aerospace, or defense industries is beneficial.
- Experience working in a low-volume, high-mix production environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including machinists and engineers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
