We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing construction company in Allen, Texas. This on-site role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership while guiding financial reporting, cash oversight, compliance activities, and business planning. The ideal candidate brings strong project-based accounting expertise and is comfortable providing practical insight that supports both day-to-day operations and long-term decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
• Produce financial statements and leadership reports that highlight performance, trends, and key business drivers.
• Manage cash activity, banking relationships, and company card administration to maintain strong treasury controls.
• Serve as the main point of coordination for external audits and collaborate with tax advisors, lenders, and bonding partners.
• Oversee state and local tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions and help maintain ongoing compliance requirements.
• Review financial exposure across projects and corporate operations, recommending actions that reduce risk and strengthen controls.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and broader financial planning efforts in partnership with company leadership.
• Work alongside operational leaders to provide analysis and recommendations that support strategic and project-level decisions.
• Supervise cost certification activities tied to affordable housing and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit projects.
• Assess accounting workflows and reporting tools, implementing process improvements that support company growth and evolving systems.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Prior experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in construction, real estate development, manufacturing, or another project-driven setting.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and financial reporting within a construction environment.
• Familiarity with affordable housing programs, cost certifications, or LIHTC-related work is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of multi-state tax compliance, reporting obligations, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to work with auditors, financial institutions, and bonding companies.
• Experience with tools such as Vista, Procore, or Power BI is preferred.
