Job Title: Manufacturing Assembler
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling products in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment using hand and power tools. You read and interpret job orders, follow Standard Operating Procedures, and interact with production systems to ensure products meet strict specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements. You support both mechanical and electrical assembly tasks, perform quality checks, and contribute to a collaborative team focused on accuracy, safety, and timely completion of work.
Responsibilities
- Assemble products using hand and power tools to position, align, and fasten parts and units into assemblies, subassemblies, or frames.
- Install wire labels and device tags, working with different styles and ensuring proper identification and placement.
- Review and understand job orders and accurately interact with the Epicor production system by properly badging in and out of active job orders.
- Comprehend and execute processes and procedures according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safely and correctly operate equipment and tools required for assembly.
- Check completed units to ensure they meet all specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements, and make adjustments as needed.
- Visually inspect components and subassemblies being produced to identify defects or issues and report or correct them promptly.
- Use tape measures and perform simple mathematics to verify dimensions and ensure accurate assembly.
- Apply a basic understanding of schematics, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly to perform assigned tasks.
- Identify wire gauges and colors, and understand ampacities to support electrical assembly work.
- Demonstrate limited understanding of PLCs, VFDs, and circuit breakers and apply this knowledge as needed in the assembly process.
- Understand and recognize differences between NEMA ratings of enclosures and apply this knowledge when working with electrical components.
- Adhere to all PPE requirements, including appropriate eye, hand, and foot protection, to perform the job safely.
- Collaborate with coworkers in a team environment, assisting with troubleshooting and problem solving to resolve production issues.
- Maintain accuracy and timeliness in completion of work assignments and meet production and quality targets.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned to support overall manufacturing operations.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and plant directives in English.
- Ability to safely operate machines and tools used in mechanical and electrical assembly.
- Strong visual inspection skills for components, subassemblies, and completed units.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time during the work shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Accuracy and timeliness in completing work assignments and meeting production goals.
- Limited understanding of PLCs, VFDs, and circuit breakers.
- Understanding of differences between NEMA ratings of enclosures.
- Knowledge of wire gauges, wire colors, and ampacities.
- Ability to effectively use a tape measure and perform simple mathematics.
- Basic understanding of schematics, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with coworkers on troubleshooting and problem solving.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools in an assembly or production setting.
- Experience working on an assembly line in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfort with frequent lifting, standing, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Familiarity with electrical assembly processes and components.
- Ability to adhere to all PPE requirements, including eye, hand, and foot protection.
- Comfort working with production software systems such as Epicor for job order tracking.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting specifications and customer requirements.
