Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for building CNC machines from the ground up, using both hand and power tools to assemble components of various sizes. This role relies on following detailed written instructions on an iPad, along with some verbal guidance, to complete precise mechanical assemblies in a production environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble CNC machines from the ground up using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Put together mechanical parts and subassemblies ranging from small components to large structures.
- Follow detailed written work instructions on an iPad to complete assemblies accurately and efficiently.
- Follow verbal instructions from supervisors or team leads to clarify tasks and ensure correct assembly procedures.
- Use measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Interpret basic schematics and blueprints to understand assembly requirements and component placement.
- Perform mechanical assembly and general labor tasks as needed to support production goals.
- Use tools correctly and safely, maintaining proper tool care and adherence to safety procedures.
- Work within a production environment, meeting quality standards and productivity targets.
- Contribute to a safe and organized work area, following all plant safety rules and guidelines.
Essential Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in assembly or construction work.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers to check parts and assemblies.
- Experience in mechanics or repair work, such as automotive repair or similar mechanical roles.
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions delivered via an iPad or similar device.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions clearly and accurately.
- Comfort working in a production environment performing mechanical assembly and general labor tasks.
- Capability to interpret basic schematics and blueprints related to mechanical assemblies.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and use tools correctly in a manufacturing or assembly setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical assembly of complex equipment, such as CNC machines or industrial machinery.
- Familiarity with work instructions and production processes in a large plant setting.
- Mechanically inclined mindset with a strong interest in tools, machinery, and how things work.
- Comfort using digital devices, such as tablets, to access and follow work instructions.
- Attention to detail and commitment to meeting quality and safety standards.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills to advance through multiple levels of mechanical assembly roles.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large manufacturing plant with significant pedestrian and industrial vehicle traffic, requiring strong situational awareness and adherence to safety procedures. The environment is production-focused, with access to a variety of hand and power tools, measuring devices, and digital work instruction systems such as iPads, all used to support efficient and accurate mechanical assembly work.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oxnard, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
