Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired within a reputable district in the Corona, CA area. This contract opportunity allows you to use your expertise to provide direct educational services throughout the full school year (FT/FSY), collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and empowering students to succeed.
Your role will involve planning and adapting curriculum materials to meet students’ individual needs, teaching essential skills in both the classroom and one-on-one settings, and consulting regularly with general education teachers and families. You will also serve as a knowledgeable resource about accessible technology and strategies to foster independence for visually impaired learners.
What you’ll need to thrive in this position:
- Active and valid California credential for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings, preferably with visually impaired populations
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Flexibility to travel within the school district as needed
- Commitment to student advocacy and inclusion
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Providing direct instruction in braille, low vision devices, and orientation & mobility skills
- Consulting and coaching school staff on best practices and accessibility tools
- Conducting ongoing assessments to track student progress
- Participating in IEP meetings and maintaining accurate documentation
