Job Title: Maintenance Lead
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the work of maintenance mechanics, including scheduling preventive maintenance activities and managing overlapping schedules to support continuous production.
- Handle setup, adjustment, and maintenance of medical device manufacturing equipment, with a primary focus on sealing machines and other production equipment.
- Perform weekly and monthly preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, facilities, and measurement instruments, ensuring all work is documented accurately to meet cGMP and audit requirements.
- Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment, including sophisticated automation systems, to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production output.
- Work with AC/DC motors, pneumatics, photo eye sensors, robotics, gears, and related mechanical, electrical, and automation components to ensure optimal performance.
- Establish, execute, and continuously improve a preventive maintenance program, including documentation for the installed base of manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Create, complete, and log work orders in preventive maintenance software, maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs.
- Diagnose and resolve process and equipment issues, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation-related problems.
- Provide on-call support to quickly address unplanned manufacturing downtime and restore equipment to safe and reliable operation.
- Manage spare parts inventory, including tracking usage, ordering replacements, and ensuring critical components are available when needed.
- Oversee facility maintenance and repair activities to ensure a safe, reliable, and compliant work environment.
- Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings to plan and execute maintenance and repair tasks.
- Apply knowledge of PLC operation and ladder logic to support troubleshooting and control system diagnostics.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure equipment performance aligns with operational and regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills
- 10+ years of experience in an equipment maintenance role, preferably in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician working with production equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and pneumatic schematics.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Hands-on experience with AC and DC motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, and related components.
- Experience with photo eye sensors, robotics, and automation equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures and restore equipment to safe, reliable operation.
- Understanding of PLC operation and ladder logic programming for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and PLC control systems.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including three-phase power systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance repair activities.
- Strong documentation skills to support cGMP and audit requirements.
- Ability to use and update preventive maintenance software and work order systems.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of OWINGS MILLS, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $46.00/hr.
