Job Title: Equipment OperatorJob DescriptionThis entry-level equipment operator role focuses on safely and efficiently operating forklifts and performing general labor work to support terminal operations. You will help load and unload bulk and packaged commodities from barges, railcars, trucks, and storage facilities, while consistently following established policies, procedures, and safety standards. Under close supervision from a lead operator or supervisor, you will receive extensive training in railcar and truck loading, warehousing, bagging, vessel operations, safety, and environmental practices, and may be assigned to a variety of operational areas throughout the terminal.
Responsibilities- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to support daily terminal operations.
- Perform general labor tasks, including bulk material transfer, bagging, storage, and housekeeping activities.
- Assist with loading and unloading bulk and packaged commodities to and from barges, railcars, trucks, and storage facilities.
- Follow all published policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Support vessel operations by handling materials and equipment as directed by the lead operator or supervisor.
- Carry out general maintenance and cleanliness of work areas to ensure equipment and facilities remain in good working condition.
- Work under close supervision, actively participate in training, and apply new skills to a variety of terminal operations.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
- Identify and report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational hazards promptly.
- Adapt to assignments across different areas of the terminal, including railcar loading, truck loading, warehousing, and bagging operations.
Essential Skills- Minimum of 2 years of forklift operating experience.
- Ability to operate a front-end loader or similar heavy equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines.
- Capability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor industrial environment.
- Willingness to work under close supervision and follow instructions from lead operators and supervisors.
- Basic understanding of material handling, loading, and unloading processes.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure quality-conscious handling of bulk and packaged commodities.
- Reliable work ethic with the ability to maintain consistent performance and meet expectations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience operating mini excavators is a significant plus.
- Crane operating experience or interest in developing crane skills is highly beneficial.
- Background using excavators, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, or similar heavy equipment.
- Experience in construction, excavation, or heavy equipment operation environments.
- Understanding that strong excavator experience can support future growth into crane operation roles.
- Willingness to learn and participate in extensive training for railcar, truck, warehousing, bagging, vessel operations, safety, and environmental procedures.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an outdoor industrial terminal environment that can be dirty, muddy, and dusty. You will work around heavy equipment and bulk materials in all types of weather. Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with additional overtime opportunities as operational needs require. Work attire should be durable and suitable for outdoor, physically demanding tasks in dusty and muddy conditions, and you should be comfortable working in a hands-on, equipment-focused setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
