Job Title: General Labor – Automotive Manufacturing (2nd Shift)Job DescriptionThis full-time, long-term general labor role supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility that produces carpeted products for vehicle interiors. You will work primarily on 2nd shift in a press production environment, loading and unloading materials, inspecting parts, and helping to produce formed and trimmed carpet assemblies. The position requires consistent overtime, including 10-hour shifts and regular weekend work, and is ideal for individuals who want stable employment with clear opportunities for advancement.
Responsibilities- Load and unload materials and assemblies into and out of production presses in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Handle carpet assemblies weighing approximately 10–15 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds when performing material handling tasks.
- Operate within stamping cells that include multiple presses, following all safety and production procedures.
- Inspect parts coming off the press to ensure they meet quality standards and identify any defects or inconsistencies.
- Trim parts as needed to meet specifications, using appropriate tools and following work instructions.
- Maintain consistent production output by following established processes and meeting efficiency and quality targets.
- Work closely with line leaders and production team members to support smooth line operation and resolve minor production issues.
- Follow training and guidance from line leaders and experienced production employees to quickly learn 2–3 different jobs within the first week.
- Adhere to all attendance, punctuality, and overtime requirements, including working 10-hour shifts and up to 6 days per week as needed.
- Support multiple production lines and plants as required, contributing to a team of approximately 70 production employees per shift.
- Participate in ongoing performance and efficiency tracking by following instructions related to production numbers and goals.
Essential Skills- Stable work history with at least 1–2 years of experience in prior jobs.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality, including consistently arriving on time and avoiding unplanned call-ins.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime and weekends, including 10-hour shifts and up to 6 days per week.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when performing material handling tasks.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment that includes presses, stamping cells, and high production volumes.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as loading, unloading, inspecting, and trimming parts while standing for most of the shift.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Basic manufacturing and production skills, including loading, unloading, inspection, trimming, and assembly tasks.
- Attention to detail to identify defects and ensure parts meet quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Prior experience in manufacturing, production, or automotive environments is beneficial.
- Experience with inspection or quality-related tasks in a production setting is an asset.
- Comfort working with sound mat layers, rubber adhesive layers, and carpet or cloth materials.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly, typically becoming efficient after about one day of training per job.
- Willingness to cross-train and learn 2–3 different jobs within the first week.
- Interest in long-term growth opportunities such as quality inspection, line leadership, or shipping and materials roles.
