Adecco is helping a local client in Casper, WY in search of a dependable and motivated Trailer Mechanic / Service Technician for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This hands-on role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trailers and related equipment. Candidates with mechanical aptitude and vehicle/trailer experience will excel in this position, with the opportunity to convert to a permanent role.
Job OverviewThe Trailer Mechanic / Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on trailers and related equipment. This position ensures all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards to support reliable equipment performance and customer satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnostic, Repair & Maintenance Work
Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot trailer issues
Perform repairs and maintenance on brakes, suspension, axles, bearings, tires, lights, and wiring
Change and rotate tires; inspect and replace wheel bearings
Perform adjustments and repairs according to manufacturer guidelines
Complete work orders and document repairs performed
Preventive Maintenance
Conduct routine preventative maintenance to ensure safe and reliable trailer operation
Follow maintenance schedules and safety regulations
Technical Support & Communication
Communicate repair needs and recommendations to service management
Identify additional repairs or parts needed and report for approval
Quality, Safety & Shop Support
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Ensure work meets quality standards and industry best practices
Operate forklifts and other shop equipment safely (as needed)
Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition
Keep the service area clean, organized, and safe
Assist with additional shop duties as needed
Minimum 3 months of basic mechanic or trailer repair experience preferred
Working knowledge of trailer systems (brakes, bearings, electrical, suspension, axles)
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Dependable, hard-working, and team-oriented
Strong attention to detail and safety practices
Forklift experience a plus
Proficiency with hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy parts and tools
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
Ability to safely operate power tools and shop equipment
Indoor repair bay with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels
Regular exposure to grease, oil, and typical shop substances
Interaction with customers, parts staff, and management
