The role involves formal verification and validation, system integration, and the creation and support of key engineering artifacts such as architectural drawings, design specifications, implementation instructions, test procedures, and test reports.
Responsibilities- Perform formal verification and validation activities to ensure systems meet all functional and performance requirements.
- Lead and execute system integration and testing (I&T) for maritime program systems and related components.
- Develop, execute, and maintain detailed test procedures for system integration and verification activities.
- Document test results clearly and accurately in comprehensive test reports.
- Support the creation and refinement of architectural drawings and system design specifications.
- Provide clear implementation instructions to guide development and integration efforts.
- Utilize oscilloscopes, multimeters, and data acquisition systems to conduct integration and test activities on medium-power, 1000-volt products.
- Apply integration testing methodologies to validate system behavior under real-world operating conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in an Agile environment to resolve issues discovered during integration and testing.
- Use requirements management tools to trace requirements through design, implementation, and test artifacts.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of integration and test processes, tools, and documentation.
- Support mission-critical, safety-critical system development with a strong focus on reliability and quality.
Essential Skills- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar technical discipline.
- 4–8 years of related experience in systems engineering, with a focus on system integration and test.
- Hands-on experience with system integration and testing activities in complex technical environments.
- Experience developing and executing integration testing, including test procedures and test reporting.
- Working knowledge of requirements management tools such as DOORS.
- Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and SysML notation.
- Ability to work with MBSE tools, with familiarity with platforms such as Cameo / MagicDraw preferred.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and data acquisition systems for integration and test.
- Knowledge of verification and validation practices for software and systems in a defense or safety-critical context.
- Ability to work effectively within Agile methodology frameworks.
- Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in the defense industry or other mission-critical, safety-critical environments.
- Prior involvement in formal verification and validation of complex systems.
- Familiarity with medium-power, high-voltage (around 1000-volt) products and associated testing considerations.
- Exposure to MBSE tools such as Cameo / MagicDraw and practical use of SysML for system modeling.
- Experience with requirements traceability and configuration management using tools like DOORS.
- Understanding of power electronics concepts, including components such as MOSFETs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing issues discovered during integration and test.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for producing test documentation and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure, safety-critical project environments.
- U.S. citizenship.
Work EnvironmentThe role is part of a recently formed team of approximately 14 Systems Engineers working on mission-critical, safety-critical maritime systems. The environment is fast-paced and high-pressure, reflecting the need for absolute reliability in products that support the safety of military personnel. Engineers collaborate closely, using tools such as DOORS, MBSE platforms like Cameo / MagicDraw, and standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and data acquisition systems. Work centers on medium-power, 1000-volt systems, with a strong emphasis on rigorous engineering practices, thorough documentation, and disciplined testing in a professional technical setting.
