As a Design Engineer, you'll develop engineering and construction packages for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 138kV. What You'll Do
As a key member of our engineering team, you will:
Develop detailed design and construction work packages for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
Support critical utility programs, including:
- Overloaded transformer initiatives
- Inspection and maintenance projects
- Joint-use coordination efforts
- Inspection report remediation programs
Conduct field visits to gather data, perform inspections, and support project execution
Perform engineering calculations, including:
- Wood pole structural loading analysis
- Guying calculations
- Conductor sag and tension analysis
- Voltage drop and flicker calculations
Prepare permitting and regulatory documentation for local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
Provide engineering support during construction and respond to field design questions
Conduct post-construction reviews to ensure compliance with engineering standards
Analyze distribution outages, identify root causes, and develop mitigation solutions
Collaborate with clients, project managers, field personnel, and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Engineering Technology degrees are not eligible for this position
- Interest in electrical utility systems and power distribution engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
- Ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders
- Interest in developing leadership skills and growing within an engineering organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Experience with electrical utility or power distribution projects
- Familiarity with GIS, mapping systems, or utility design software
- Exposure to overhead and underground distribution design
- Interest in power delivery, grid modernization, and utility infrastructure projects various Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), ensuring completeness and compliance with local requirements.
- Provide engineering support during construction, responding to field questions and clarifications to ensure projects follow the approved design.
- Conduct post-construction reviews to verify that all applicable engineering and construction standards and specifications have been met.
- Perform root cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation solutions using sound engineering principles and distribution design practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients and field personnel, to resolve design issues and support successful project delivery.
- Demonstrate the ability and desire to lead a team of engineers over time, contributing to complex design efforts and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Represent the business and yourself professionally in client-facing situations, building trust and maintaining strong working relationships.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.81 - $29.81/hr.
