Job Title: CNC Machine Operator
Job Description
This role operates CNC lathes and mills in a family-oriented manufacturing environment, producing precision parts while maintaining high quality standards. You will interpret work orders, set up and run CNC equipment, inspect parts during production, and make basic adjustments to ensure accurate and efficient machining.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathes and mills to machine parts according to work orders and production requirements.
- Interpret and follow detailed work orders, including punching in for each job and tracking each step in the process.
- Select parts from large tubs before machining and return finished parts to tubs after processing, frequently bending and lifting as needed.
- Learn and perform basic adjustments to CNC machines to maintain part accuracy and consistency.
- Grind parts to remove flares and smooth edges after machining to meet quality and safety standards.
- Check the quality of parts between cycles using appropriate measuring tools and techniques.
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other quality tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications and machining requirements.
- Maintain a steady workflow by taking initiative, working with urgency, and keeping up with production demands.
- Follow established safety procedures and use hand tools and equipment correctly.
- Perform basic machine set- ups and adjustments as needed
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address production issues and improve processes.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with plant standards.
Essential Skills
- 1–5 years of CNC machining experience, including work with mills, lathes, or machining centers.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes or mills in a production or similar environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints to understand dimensions and tolerances.
- Proficiency using quality tools such as micrometers and calipers for precise measurement.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn machine adjustments and troubleshooting.
- Capability to interpret and follow detailed work orders and production documentation.
- Physical ability to bend, lift, and reach into large tubs to handle parts throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or machining centers in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with using hand tools in a machine shop environment.
- Experience grinding parts or performing post-machining finishing operations.
- Demonstrated initiative, strong work ethic, and the ability to keep up with a fast-paced production environment.
- Willingness to learn and expand skills in machining under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Comfort working in a family-oriented, team-based plant environment.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peoria, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr.
