Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical Office Triage
Job Description
This role offers an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a busy medical office setting. You will triage incoming calls, support appointment scheduling, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming phone calls from patients and caregivers, assessing symptoms and concerns to determine appropriate level of care and next steps.
- Answer and manage a high volume of calls in a professional, compassionate, and efficient manner.
- Schedule new appointments and follow-up visits, ensuring accuracy in patient information and appointment details.
- Provide clear instructions and education to patients regarding appointment preparation, follow-up care, and when to seek urgent or emergency services.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, and recommendations accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other clinical staff to coordinate patient care and address urgent clinical issues.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced office environment.
- Support patient care workflows within specialties such as OB/GYN, Urology, or Internal Medicine as needed.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively, sharing information, and supporting colleagues.
- Maintain compliance with clinical protocols, office policies, and applicable nursing standards and regulations.
Essential Skills
- Active Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Demonstrated experience in patient care within an outpatient or clinical setting.
- Strong triage skills, including assessing patient needs over the phone and determining appropriate care pathways.
- Ability to multi-task effectively while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work as a collaborative team player in a clinical environment.
- Proficiency or comfort using electronic medical record systems, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, particularly in conveying clinical information clearly and compassionately over the phone.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle scheduling and follow-up tasks efficiently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using Epic electronic medical record system is a plus.
- Background in OB/GYN, Urology, or Internal Medicine is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working in a medical office or outpatient clinic environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient volumes and clinical priorities.
- Commitment to delivering patient-centered care and maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions.
Work Environment
This position is based in a medical office setting with standard weekday hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will work in a collaborative clinical environment that relies on electronic medical record technology, including Epic, to manage patient information and workflows. The role involves frequent phone-based communication, coordination of appointments, and interaction with clinical and administrative staff. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Stamford, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
